A Shared Mission: Wevius Edu & The Phoenicians' Route

A Shared Mission: Wevius Edu & The Phoenicians' Route

Innovation meets Heritage

Wevius Edu is proud to announce its collaboration with The Phoenicians' Route, a partnership dedicated to bridging the gap between ancient cultural heritage and the new digital generations. By merging our edutainment platform with the Route's mission of "heritage pedagogy," we are transforming the history of Mediterranean civilizations into a dynamic, engaging, and accessible experience for students worldwide (launched in Italy and expanding globally). Through our extensive library of educational videos, we empower the Route's international network of schools to rediscover their common roots. Below is an overview of our prestigious partner and their long-standing impact in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

About Phoenicians' Route

Since 2003, the Phoenicians' Route has been a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe (the sixth out of 52 today, therefore one of the longest-lived), managed by an international network of the same name.

The Cultural Route is operated through a Non-Profit Association. The primary theme of the Route is the Intercultural Dialogue in the Mediterranean, taking as a reference the ancient Mediterranean civilizations that
contributed to creating a koiné, a Mediterranean cultural "community", and to lay the foundations for what would later become the contemporary Euro-Mediterranean civilization.

The Cultural Route is a vector of cultural, economic and social development on an International scale, operating in 3 continents. Members are institutional, territorial and thematic bodies, universities, research centers and schools, places of culture and operators from different sectors developing shared strategies in 16 Euro-Mediterranean countries. For this reason, it is confiqured as an Innovation hub, that is a permanent international laboratory on the issues of cultural enhancement and new forms of tourism and local development.
Geographically distant places are united by a common past, for the enhancement of all the cities and countries that are part of it, of their archaeological heritage, landscape and identity and their quality productions. A territorial marketing tool but also a selection of destinations and institutions of excellence that pursue common projects, programs and strategies.
At an educational level, the Phoenicians' Route promotes "heritage pedagogy" to foster direct dialogue between humans and their cultural and natural heritage, including through the use of new technologies. In 2016, a Mediterranean Schools Network - Edu.Net was also established to promote educational exchanges and projects, intercultural trips through twinning programmes between schools in the Mediterranean region, whether within the same country or across different countries.
